Do I have to pay the travel guide?
Travel guides for the Walking Tour are all volunteers. You are not to pay the guide for the service
Do I have to make a reservation three days in advance?
Yes, you do. We need the three days to make arrangements with travel guides, who serve as volunteers.
Are walking tours available for time slots other than the 10:00 14:00 15:00 tours as offered on the site?
The answer is no. The tours are provided at the times indicted above. However, for a group tour with participants numbering more than 20, an arrangement can be made to better accommodate the needs of such a large group.
When does an “application” (making reservation) process be completed?
It usually takes one to two days. The process can delay if and when a large number of applications are filed.
How do I check the status of application?
When your reservation is filed and completed, you will receive a phone message of the completed reservation on your cell phone. Once the message arrives, you log onto our site and confirm the status of your reservation. There, on the site, you will get the name and phone number of a tour guide assigned to you.
Where is the meeting place?
Each tour course has its own meeting place, which is often in front of the first destination of the tour course. The meeting place is clearly indicated on the Walking Tour site.
Where are bus parking lots in the area of Cheonggyecheon?
They are inside The History Museum of Seoul (02-724-0122) and the Dongdaemun Stadium (02-3436-2901).
Is the Walking Tour available throughout the year?
Yes but except for the New Year’s Day, Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) holidays, and the days palaces are closed. (Deoksugung and Unhyeongung closed on Mondays; Gyeongbokgung, Jongmyo and Changgyeonggung closed on Tuesdays.)
Is there an age limit for tour participants?
The tour lasts two to three hours. Anyone not physically up to it are not recommended to join the tour.
How do I cancel the tour for an emergency reason?
You need to first contact the travel guide assigned to you and let him or her that you are canceling the tour. Or you may call the Tourism Division at 02-2171-2461.
Is Changdeukgung Palace included in the Walking Tour?
No. The tour does not include a tour of inside the palace. If you wish to tour the palace, call 02-762-0648 for information.
Why does the Buchon/Unhyeongung course limit the number of participants to 10?
The quarter is currently a residential area, making it difficult for more than 10 persons to tour at a time.
