Deoksugung Palace-Jeongdong Course
The beautiful stone-walled Jeongdong Street is more than just a place where lovers come to walk; it is also the location of some of the most historically significant places to modern Korea. This course is wonderful because of its focus on sites with such modern historical importance.
Walking Course
Route : Deoksugung Palace → Jungmyeongjeon → Former Russian legation → Gyeonghui Palace
Course Time : Approximately 2 hours
Meeting place : In front of the Deoksugung Palace ticket office and next to the booth that provides free palace-guard experiences.

Tourist Attractions
This course begins at Deoksugung (Deoksugung Palace), a walled compound that houses some of the most historically significant palaces in Seoul.(Tel. 02-771-9952 Website - http://www.deoksugung.go.kr Closed on Mondays) Not only was this one of the first locations in Korea to feature Western architecture and buildings, but it also housed various members of the Joseon royal family over the years. In front of Deoksugung Palace one can watch as the ancient changing of the guard ceremony is reenacted for the benefit of tourists. (Everyday at 10:30, 14:00, 15:00 except for Mondays) Close to Deoksugung Palace one can visit Jungmyeongjeon, the site where the Eulsa Treaty, one of the infamous unfair treaties forced on Korea by Japan, was signed. After that one can stroll to the former Russian legation to Korea, where Emperor Gojong took refuge for a time. The course then leads to Gyeonghui Palace, one of the “Five Grand Palaces” built during the Joseon era, and finishes up with a visit to the Seoul Museum of History. the Seoul Museum of History is well known for the comprehensive information and history it provides about the great Metropolis Seoul.
Deoksugung(Palace)
Deoksugung traditionally served as a subsidiary palace but became a main palace for Gojong from 1897 to 1910. In front of Deoksugung Palace one can watch as the ancient changing of the guard ceremony is reenacted for the benefit of tourists.

+ The Royal Guards Changing Ceremony : The ceremony is particularly popular among foreign tourists because you can take pictures dressed up as royal guards.
Jungmyeongjeon
Jungmyeongjeon is the site where the Eulsa Treaty, one of the infamous unfair treaties forced on Korea by Japan, was signed.
Site of the former Russian Legation
One can stroll to the former Russian legation to Korea, where Emperor Gojong took refuge for a time.
Gyeonghuigung Palace
Gyeonghuigung was often referred to as West Palace. At the height of its usage Gyeonghuigung included more than 100 halls.
